“You can’t trust Labour they won’t tell us what the taxes will be – wahhh why won’t you tell us.”
Labour “We have listened to you and understand you want certainty, so there will be no new taxes from the working group during the next three years, we will seek a mandate for any changes at the next election.”
“Wahhh, you can’t trust Labour they flip flopped on taxes.”
From the National party that does not increase tax ............
1. GST increase from 12.5% to 15% (via a TAX WORKING GROUP despite promising it wouldn't happen)2. Increased taxes on KiwiSaver3. Compulsory student loan payment increase from 10% to 12%4. Increased tertiary fees5. The 2012 ‘Paperboy’ tax removing tax refunds for school children6. Civil Aviation Authority fees rise7. Additional fuel tax increase of 9 cents with annual CPI increases8. Road User Charges increased9. New annual student loan fees introduced10. Massive unnecessary ACC levy increases11. Prescription fees increased by 66%12. New online company filing fees imposed on businesses13. Creeping expansion of the scope of Fringe Benefit Taxes - National tried to tax car parks and plain-clothes police uniforms14. Lowering of Working for Families abatement threshold and increasing the abatement rate, taking money out of the pockets of families15. Imposing a $900 Family Court fee16. Capital Gains tax via 2 year bright line test after opposing any capital gains tax at 2014 election17. New border levy18. Including GST in digital purchases aka “Netflix Tax”
So the tax working group was bs. They knew all along what they wanted to do. Liars!!! My $5 says that captain Jacinda changes her mind on this a few more times before polling day because she's a flake.
I welcome tax reforms that will address foreign investors, corporates & the wealthy, who have received a massive tax break from National for the pass 9 years , time they pay their fair share of taxes like the rest of us instead of avoiding it #sickofnational #voteforchange
Doesn't this mean that they won't be able to address the housing crisis (because there will be no Capital Gains Tax) until after the NEXT election? And how will they be able to deliver on many of their spending promises if they won't have enough tax revenue for the next 3 years?
Up until just minutes ago Jacinda Ardern was claiming that it was all lies and scaremongering to expect policy transparency from Labour on taxation. Now they've done a major backtrack, they're claiming that these were genuine concerns of ordinary New Zealanders. So which is it? Lies and scaremongering, or genuine concerns from ordinary Kiwis?
Labour’s sudden flip flop on tax proves that the old Labour Party is still the old Labour Party. And how insulting to say that Labour are listening to the people. What a downright LIE! Jacinda has been transparent – so transparent that we have now seen right through her. And she gets Grant Robertson to do the flipflop . And we still want to know Labour’s tax details before election day - unless of course there is no detail and they have been leading us down the rambling garden path. I wonder if they have finally discovered that Steven Joyce was right all along. What are they going to about all their 20 billion dollars plus dollars of promises and bribes? They will have to flip flop on those too. Jacinda is not fit to be the PM of NZ.
Wow this is a big stand down by Labour. Originally Labour’s policy under Andrew Little was to have a tax review. Labour would take any recommendations to the voters at the next election. Kelvin Davies set out the policy on TV only to be publicly slapped down by Jacinda.
Now in desperation she has done a turn around. What a flip flop.
A likely story. They will go ooh we made a mistake and huge taxes will come in. The water tax is my worst fear. Food prices will go up and punish the already struggling poor
Well played the Nat's haven't got time to create false news and their argument has been watered down big time - Lol
So how are Labour policy promises going to be funded? This seems like panic by Labour.Early voting is open with days before official election day.The lack of detail around a cornerstone of the economy re taxation is very worrying. ! I always intended voting National, economic stability is important to me. I wonder how many voters are concerned about policy.?
